Abstract
The durability of asphalt pavements is strongly influenced by the rheological performance of the asphalt binder, particularly in terms of fatigue resistance and self-healing capability. Cyclic traƯic loading, aging, and environmental eƯects progressively weaken the binder structure, leading to microcrack initiation, crack propagation, and ultimately pavement failure. In this context, incorporation of waste plastic represents promising strategy to enhance performance of binder. This thesis investigates the healing and fatigue behavior of asphalt binders modified with recycled waste plastics using the Linear Amplitude Sweep (LAS) approach. A comparative experimental study was conducted on three binders: neat 50/70 penetration grade binder, SBS-modified binder, and neat binder modified with 3.3% waste plastic through the wet mixing.
Rheological characterization was performed using a Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR), including Frequency Sweep (FS), Linear Amplitude Sweep (LAS), Linear Amplitude Sweep Healing (LASH), and Linear Amplitude Sweep Steric Hardening (LAS-SH) tests
