Increasing urbanization, in the current years, has caused many problems for Iranian cities. This thesis investigates the current situation of cities in Iran, especially Isfahan city, from the point of view of sustainability and ecological factors. Moreover, it explains what actions, policies, and planning Iran (in the cities and in the case study of Isfahan city)has done on this topic. Additionally, in this paper, it was presented the suggestions for making an eco-district in Isfahan according to Gaffron classification of eco-cities. Increasing the population leads to the enhancement of fossil fuel energy consumption, and this causes climate change in Iran. According to this phenomenon, Iran started to create a Sustainable Development committee in 1993 in order to make the cities more sustainable.
