Abstract
La tesi parte dal bando per il Concorso internazionale di progettazione architettonica: "Ford Calumet Environmental Center, Chicago". Il lavoro si struttura seguendo il percorso di ricerca svolto per la redazione del progetto finale: 1) Studio della città che ospiterà l'edificio: CHICAGO. Il primo capitolo è dedicato alla presentazione della città di Chicago:tale presentazione è realizzata con delle schede ciascuna delle quali descrive un edificio o un gruppo di edifici della città; ciascuna scheda è arricchita da immagini scattate personalmente durante la mia permanenza a Chicago. Le schede sono ordinate per quartieri a partire dal Downtown verso le periferie nord, sud e ovest.
Questo capitolo corrisponde alla prima tappa del mio percorso di ricerche: il viaggio a Chicago 2) Attenta osservazione delle richieste del bando, allo scopo di acquisite preziose informazioni, imput ed anche vincoli, che hanno costituito, assieme ad obiettivi tecnico-progettuali, la struttura del lavoro 3) L'incontro con la committenza, i partecipanti al concorso, i vincitori del concorso
