This project presents a comprehensive rehabilitation framework for Pier Luigi Nervi’s Palazzo del Lavoro in Torino, Italy, transforming its monumental, dormant interior into a vibrant multi-program hub. The intervention introduces a modular system of prefabricated mass-timber pods configured as a lightweight, porous network of independent pavilions within the historic concrete hall. Structurally, the methodology pairs a meticulous diagnostic assessment of the building's material pathologies with advanced simulations of its spatial daylighting and thermal comfort performance. Engineered for structural reversibility, these dry-assembled timber pods prioritize long-term spatial flexibility ensuring the architectural integrity of the historic monument is preserved while allowing the interior to seamlessly adapt, evolve, or be entirely cleared in the future.
