Abstract
This thesis explores the heritage of sustainable architecture in Iran and aims to examine the traditional building methods used by the people in the country, taking into account its diverse climate and four distinct seasons. Iran is rich in resources and its abundant mines have enabled people to utilize local materials in a cost-effective manner. The research utilized Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis to study various aspects of the country, including elevation, climate, and land use. One specific region was analyzed in greater detail to demonstrate the practical application of the GIS analysis and how this information can be utilized to promote sustainable building practices.
The study concludes with recommendations for building strategies and materials, specific to each region, that could be used to construct sustainable buildings in Iran today.
