Abstract
In the last years the number of Embedded Systems used in the Automotive Sector is increased drastically. Even if all car producers have worked on improvements in the area of mechanics, the main differentiation factor between brands is the electronics area. In fact, today's trend is to replace the traditional mechanical systems with modern embedded systems that allow to develop more advanced control strategies, providing added values for the customer and making vehicles smarter. This leads software development to face challenges like shortened development times, high safety requirements and especially the growing complexity of the code because of the increasing number of functionalities.
To master these challenges car producers and suppliers conduct a paradigm change in the software development from hand-coded to model-based development
