Abstract
The thesis investigates immersive virtual reality technologies by analyzing the principal differences between Desktop VR, Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs), and CAVE systems from technological, experiential, and economic perspectives. The different parameters analyzed between these technologies are immersion, interaction, accessibility, scalability, collaboration and infrastructural complexity; advantages and limitations related to the context and the objective of the different studies are highlighted. The systems mainly reviewed are the CAVE virtual reality environments and their role in emotional and behavioral research. Different experiments within CAVE are studied to understand how virtual scenarios influence emotional responses, stress levels, cognitive workload and user behavior. Making full use of existing literature, the study examinates the principal validated questionary primarily employed in immersive virtual reality research affiliated with presence, emotional assessment, workload, situational awareness, and usability.
Based on this analysis, a concise hybrid questionnaire is proposed for the experimental case study
