Rel. Marco Cantamessa. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Gestionale (Engineering And Management), 2026
Abstract
This thesis investigates inefficiencies in the billing and reimbursement process in Brazil’s private healthcare sector, with emphasis on glosas and payment delays that affect clinics and hospitals. The objective is to apply Design Thinking and Lean to identify a relevant problem, prototype and test a user‑centered solution, using the Cura initiative as a case study. The method integrates secondary research, interviews with physicians, residents, and managers, and benchmarking; synthesis through affinity diagrams, Jobs to Be Done, personas, and empathy maps; ideation with MVP cutoff criteria; and prototyping and testing with Learning Cards and Test Cards. The results indicate that reimbursement friction is systemic and recurrent, that the most viable short‑term direction is documentation automation, and that the use of language models for document generation is feasible only with human review and compliance controls.
The landing‑page experiment validated the relevance of the problem and initial adoption intent, while concept comparison and LLM evaluation defined operational boundaries for the MVP
