Abstract
Spinal cord injuries affect thousands of people worldwide every year, having very profound implications, not only from the neuromuscular and motor point of view, but also in terms of quality of life. As a result, both the medical and engineering fields are seeking solutions that can facilitate the lifestyle of injured patients. One of the main tools to assess and diagnose these diseases is the surface electromyography (sEMG), that allows to obtain information about the muscular activity. This represents a fundamental starting point for identifying residual muscular functions and preventing secondary complications. In this context, the Brain Motor Control Assessment (BMCA) protocol has the objective of providing an overview of the muscular characteristics.
The achieved information supports the use of spinal cord electrostimulation as a treatment
