Abstract
Climate change poses a critical challenge to the energy performance and thermal resilience of existing buildings, particularly in countries such as Italy, where a large proportion of the residential stock was built before modern energy regulations. Urban building energy modelling (UBEM) has emerged as a key methodology to assess building energy demand and retrofit potential at the city scale. However, region-specific archetype libraries and systematic evaluations of climate-resilient strategies under future climate scenarios remain limited, especially for the Piedmont region. This thesis develops and applies an archetype-based UBEM framework using the CitySim simulation platform to evaluate the effectiveness of an integrated climate-resilient strategy (CRS) for a district block in Turin, Italy, under current and future climate conditions.
First, a representative building archetype library was constructed following the URBEM framework
