Le calamità naturali, causate in gran parte dall’uomo, e i disastri tecnologici privano milioni di persone dei loro beni primari e li spingono a migrare nella speranza di una vita migliore.

L’architettura, in quanto disciplina che regola lo spazio e l’esistenza dell’uomo, deve saper rispondere rapidamente e in modo preciso ai bisogni di collettività che vivono situazioni così delicate e fragili.

Esistono fortunatamente tentativi di indagare e di ricercare nuove possibilità, attraverso sperimentazioni, indagini e ricerche: è proprio durante le emergenze, ancor più che in altri contesti, che l’uomo viene messo al centro assoluto del fare architettura.
