Abstract
This Master Thesis Influence of occupants ' lighting preferences on energy consumption was developed to obtain a Master Degree in Architecture at thè Politecnico di Torino.
The project period started on thè lst of April and ended with thè submission on thè 13th of December 2013. The work corresponds to 20 CFU and it was partially carried out at thè Technical University of Denmark [DTU], Department of Civil Engineering and thè “Politecnico di Torino”.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank thè professors, my colleagues, friends and family who all supported me in accomplishing this assignment.
Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to Stefano Paolo Corgnati who allowed me to participate in this experience and delve into an argument for which I care about and, last but not least, in transmitting his enthusiasm for research work.
During my period at DTU last summer, thè special international atmosphere at thè International Centre for Indoor Environment and Energy, carefully organized beneath thè care of Snjezana, and all thè “colleagues” - PhD students, professors, master students - stimulated me in my work. I must reserve a special and highly deserved thank you to Rune Andersen who, with great patience, accompanied me and helped me to overcome all my doubts and problems; so certainly without him I would not have completed this project.
I would also like to thank all thè people I got to know, as well as those I already knew, in Denmark who made my cold northern summer warm with their friendship. In particular, Valentina, who was my guide during my initial period at thè DTU and has accompanied me with my Thesis every day up to thè present one.
On my return to Italy, huge thanks must go to Valentina Fabi, for her consistent guidance and support, and to Francesco Causone as it was with their precious contribution I was able to finish this work.
Of course, a special thank you must be reserved for my family, who have always supported me in achieving my aims, and to Francesco who is a special and important presence in my life.
Finally thanks to all my friends, thè life-long ones who, despite now we are following different paths, are still very present; friends that I met during my Erasmus journey in Stockholm and then to all my Italian colleagues of thè fìrst year with whom I experienced university period, shared dreams and ambitions I wish we will accomplish. Finally and with a lot of affection, Cristina and Kai with whom I passed some very special moments as well as long sleepless nights.
