Abstract
The Pathway towards net-zero Carbon in copper mines This thesis examines how copper mines can reduce their carbon emissions to zero, a process known as achieving net-zero. Copper mining has traditionally been a significant source of CO2, so finding ways to minimize these emissions is crucial. The research begins with a review of existing studies and past efforts to cut down emissions in the industry, providing a solid base for understanding the challenges and possible solutions. It also looks closely at copper mines that are currently working towards net-zero, offering valuable insights into the methods they're using, the obstacles they face, and the progress they've made so far.
One of the major hurdles in reaching net-zero emissions in copper mining is dealing with technological and financial limitations, navigating complex regulations, and fitting renewable energy into mining operations
