Abstract
With strict environmental standards in place, this research program develops a high performance building that lasts longer and has lower social and environmental impacts. The aim of the design and construction of sustainable buildings is to provide high environmental standards, in order to minimise the energy requirements, reduce the water consumption, use materials with a low environmental impact, reduce wastage, conserve/enhance the natural environment and safeguard human health and wellbeing.
This project requires the use of a multiscale and Trans disciplinary approach that addresses different technological solutions for energy generation, Storage, distribution and demand reduction, into the design, construction and operation phase of new and existing buildings.
The use of rating systems and parametric modelling software facilitates the marketplace transformation into more sustainable buildings and materials. BIM (Building Information Modeling) helps architects, engineers, designers and manufacturers to visualize and simulate better their projects digitally; experience their ideas virtually; and empower them to work in a faster and more efficient way. Instead BREEAM assessment tool provides a greater amount of clients, developers and designers with a better market recognition for low environmental impact buildings.
A clear and shared vision permits better collaboration, coordination and communication between project stakeholders and teams, accelerating the different project cycles and time of getting into the market.
The idea of this project seeks in creating synergies between the building design, which is represented and managed entirely through BIM and BREEAM assessment tool. This tool represents the level of environmental sustainability of the buildings by involving the consideration of different issues.
