Abstract
Battery-swap technology has been on the market for years, but its potential has not yet been fully developed. The impact of this technology could be a turning point in the forthcoming environmental and sustainability problems in our cities. The rapid growth of the electric car market is laying the foundations for a smart city, providing short-term solutions to reduce emissions, but what will happen in the long term? The following thesis aims at analysing the state-of-the-art technology and its possible applications in different contexts. The main body of the thesis will focus on the development of an innovative business model capable of making a long-term positive impact on the environment and the energy management of our cities.
In a plausible scenario in which electric vehicles are the major players in mobility, battery swap stations can create the basis for effective energy sharing
