Abstract
The interest of power is expanding step by step all through the world. Providing electricity for semi-arid areas in emerging countries through the grid extension can be very expensive and usually needs a long term planning. A distributed power generation system (e.g. a micro-grid) which provides electricity from locally available renewable energy sources such as solar energy and biomass might be a better solution for these countries. The focus of this thesis is to simulate and optimize a photovoltaic and biomass gasifier generator set to provide electricity for Meknassy, a town and commune in the Sidi Bou Zid Governorate, in Tunisia.
In this framework, the essential wellspring of power is sun based solar photovoltaic system and biomass gasifier generator set
