Information superiority for airborne surveillance.
Rel. Fabrizio Lamberti, Lia Morra. Politecnico di Torino, Master of science program in Mechatronic Engineering, 2018
Abstract
The aim of the study is to identify a smart information methodology for supporting data exploitation of an airborne surveillance mission. Focus is addressed to surveillance scenario’s behavior anomalies, intended as mission events, detected by mission operators or autonomously raised by the computers while processing sensors data on board the aircraft when referenced to data patterns and thresholds. On mission events occurrence the processing and database on board might not be enough to understand the scenario evolution, and much more information, e.g. available as open source on the web, if smartly processed, is likely expected to provide a wider view of the mission scenario than the mission sensors data processing itself.
Expert system techniques and relevant ontologies will be approached for implementing a simple proof of concept to assess potential benefits in conducting a simulated airborne surveillance mission.
