Abstract:

In the last years, the process of how a network architecture is designed has profoundly changed. The SDN (Software Defined Networking) and NFV (Network Function Virtualization) paradigms inspired and guided this revolution. Both technologies stir towards an abstraction from the underlying hardware, promoting a higher dynamicity and a faster evolution of the services, in conjunction with an important cost reduction. This thesis work created a clear proof of concept that is able to enhance the current capabilities of an NFV Orchestrator from which future solutions can take advantage. Moreover, the modularity of the project itself encourages the development of many future works that can extend and/or integrate the aforementioned functionalities.
