Abstract
Pulsed Measurement for Quantum Sensing with NV centers Nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond have attracted considerable interest as solid-state quantum systems for sensing applications due to their optical accessibility, long spin coherence times, and ability to operate under ambient conditions. The implementation of pulsed control techniques has further enhanced the performance of NV-based sensors by enabling coherent manipulation of the electronic spin and improving measurement sensitivity. This thesis focuses on the development of the hardware and software infrastructure required for pulsed measurements in NV-center quantum sensing experiments. Particular emphasis is placed on the generation and control of microwave pulse sequences used in pulsed optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) protocols.
To this end, a Zurich Instruments High-Density Arbitrary Waveform Generator (HDAWG) was employed as the pulse-generation platform, taking advantage of its high sampling rate, multi-channel architecture, precise timing capabilities, and advanced waveform programming features
