This thesis addresses the critical challenges of urban fragmentation and the isolation of historical heritage sites, focusing specifically on the Safavid Dolatkhaneh (Saadat Abad Garden) in Qazvin, Iran. Over centuries of political shifts and modernization, the site devolved from a foundational "Safavid Garden" paradigm into a highly securitized, disconnected urban void characterized by physical barriers, visual decay, and functional obsolescence. Driven by a desire to dismantle these limitations, this research aims to transform the restrictive environment into a permeable, accessible, and inclusive landscape that fosters spontaneous social interaction and collective culture. Employing a comprehensive multi-layered methodology, the study integrates macro-scale connectivity mapping, Kevin Lynch’s principles of urban legibility, and environmental studies to diagnose spatial vulnerabilities.
