Abstract
The Cross-Car Beam (CCB) is one of the primary structural components of the automotive dashboard assembly, providing support for systems such as the steering column, HVAC unit, passenger airbag module, and electrical wiring harnesses. Conventional wiring harness layouts are generally routed externally around the Cross-Car Beam, which increases cable congestion and limits the available packaging volume within the dashboard region. As vehicle electrical systems become increasingly complex, improved packaging solutions are required to enhance space utilization and simplify harness integration. This study proposes an internal wiring harness routing concept for the Cross-Car Beam by introducing routing openings within the beam structure and integrating cable guidance components, WAGO carrier mounting locations, and reinforcement structures.
The objective of the proposed design is to improve packaging efficiency while maintaining acceptable structural and dynamic performance
