Abstract
This thesis investigated 316L stainless steel lattice structures fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion, focusing on design, manufacturing quality, compression behavior, and numerical evaluation. Three architectures were studied: Gyroid, Split-P, and stochastic Voronoi. The specimens were designed in nTop with controlled relative-volume classes and mapping strategies, manufactured by LPBF, separated by WEDM, and tested under quasi-static compression. XCT was used for the selected common relative-volume group, while Abaqus simulations supported the interpretation of the results. The workflow confirmed that complex 316L lattices can be produced by LPBF. nTop allowed regular TPMS-based geometries and the irregular bioinspired Voronoi architecture to be generated in a controlled way.
Solid end regions improved compression contact, and WEDM separation allowed removal from the build platform without visibly damaging the lattice cores
