Abstract
This thesis is aimed at developing glass-ceramic sealing materials and deposition techniques for Oxygen Transport Membranes (OTMs) integration onto metal supports in order to ensure an effective joining of the components. OTMs are composed of ceramic mixed ionic and electronic conductors, that under high temperatures and a partial pressure difference between each side of the membrane, allow for the simultaneous transport of oxygen ions and electrons. In order for OTMs to be used in industrial processes, such as oxy-fuel combustion or gasification, they must be assembled in modules, which consist of a membrane layer joined to a metal support via a glass-ceramic material.
The sealant is a critical aspect in the module, as it prevents gas leakages from occurring during operation and therefore avoids device failure
