Against the dual backdrop of the continued advancement of the national Innovation-driven Development Strategy and the shift of urban regeneration toward the Quality Enhancement of Existing Built-up Areas, the spatial transformation of existing areas surrounding universities has become an increasingly important issue. However, existing regeneration practices have predominantly treated universities as closed parcels, and channels for factor flows between the university and the city have long been obstructed. The SCUT-Tianhe Coach Terminal District in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, is adjacent to SCUT North Campus, with Metro Lines 3 and 6 intersecting at this location; yet the district has long remained in a state of functional abandonment and low vitality, with spatial and institutional obstruction at the University-City Interface persisting.
