Abstract
This thesis presents the design and implementation of a high-reliability, real-time embedded system for the detection of hazardous gas leaks, targeted toward both residential environments and autonomous robotic platforms. The core of the system is the NUCLEO-H755ZI-Q development board, which features the STM32H755ZIT6U dual-core microcontroller (Cortex-M7 and Cortex-M4). The system architecture is designed for maximum scalability; while the real-time FreeRTOS scheduling and Ethernet-based telemetry can be fully sustained by a single core to minimize the energy footprint—such as leveraging the Cortex-M4 for low-power continuous monitoring—the platform provides the inherent capability to distribute the workload across both processors if advanced data fusion is required.
A key technical feature of the hardware platform is the integrated Switched-Mode Power Supply (SMPS).Unlike traditional linear regulators, the SMPS utilizes rapid high-frequency switching to minimize thermal dissipation
