Abstract
The electric vehicle industry is experiencing rapid growth, in part due to the greater environmental benefits that electric vehicles offer over traditional internal combustion engine vehicles, especially in urban environments. As electrical technology has made significant advances in recent years, battery charging and optimization is one of the most active areas of research. A variety of approaches have been explored, and this work looks at one specific solution: inductive wireless charging. With this innovative approach, vehicles can be charged while stationary and while moving. This is called static inductive power transfer (SIPT) or dynamic inductive power transfer (DIPT). At the heart of an IPT system is a magnetic coupler, an electromagnetic device that facilitates the transfer of energy between a primary coil (energy source) and a secondary coil (receiver).
The University of Coimbra (UC) is one of the many universities and research institutes working on this technology, and it is here that the subject of this study was carried out
