Enhancing Corporate Travel Planning through a Data-Driven, User-Centred Approach. A Case Study on Student Sustainable Mobility in Turin.
Rel. Cristina Pronello. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Gestionale (Engineering And Management), 2024
Abstract
This thesis explores the development and effectiveness of Corporate Travel Planning, in Italian “Piani Spostamento Casa-Lavoro” – PSCLs – within the broader framework of Mobility Management, with a focus on advancing sustainable mobility through data-driven and user-centred approach. By addressing the specific commuting needs of students and integrating young generations into travel planning, the research underscores the importance of tailoring solutions to users’ real requirements, moving beyond conventional, one-size-fits-all strategies. The study investigates the Italian context, particularly the metropolitan area of Turin, to provide localised insights into the implementation of PSCLs and the challenges they face. Using a comprehensive methodology – combining a literature review, comparative analysis, and case study approaches – it evaluates the effectiveness of PSCLs in promoting sustainable transport and meeting user needs.
Data from a travel survey administered to the students, professors, and administrative-technical staff at Istituto Tecnico Superiore Avogadro, enriches the analysis, offering practical insights into commuting behaviours and preferences
