Abstract: |
This thesis presents the design, development, and implementation of a multisensory feedback system aimed at improving pilot situational awareness and safety by utilizing tactile, thermal, and visual actuators. The system, integrated with a flight simulator, will provide real-time feedback to the pilot, communicating certain aircraft conditions such as engine status, directional indications or warnings about possible dangers, through multisensory channels. The main objective of this work is to introduce an additional feedback system which will complement and partially replace the traditional displays and alarms already present in the cockpits, in order to avoid overloading of those, and provide more timely and intuitive information to the pilot for critical flight scenarios. |
