This thesis investigates the function of green infrastructure (GI) in reducing the effects of climate change with an emphasis on its implementation in Novara, Italy. The study looks at the theoretical underpinnings of GI, how it fits into environmental policies in Italy and Europe, and how it can be used practically in urban planning to address issues related to climate change, like flood hazards and urban heat islands (UHI). A thorough examination of the literature, a policy analysis, and an in-depth case study of Novara form the framework of the study. An overview of the theoretical underpinnings of GI and its many uses, such as its advantages in the social, ecological, and economic spheres, is given in the literature review.
