Abstract: |
This thesis examines the implementation of the Sequar ERP system at CRD Lamiere, with a focus on the development of strategic Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the metal carpentry industry. The main objective is to examine how an ERP system can not only increase operational efficiency but also stimulate business growth through a detailed analysis of the benefits and challenges of its implementation. The research problem addressed includes the study of the reality of CRD Lamiere to assess the benefits and difficulties of implementing an ERP, as well as the development and adaptation of production KPIs in the Sequar ERP system to the specific needs of the carpentry industry. The aim is to improve performance measurement and optimise business processes through a customised approach to the use of ERP systems. The methodology adopted is based on an experimental approach that includes analysing existing production KPIs in Sequar, identifying areas for improvement and developing new customised metrics, analysing potential critical issues and providing guidance for further improvements. The key findings show that in some cases it can be beneficial to outsource the development of certain processes, as long as a collaborative and trusting relationship is established with external partners. Trust in the ERP system and in the consultants managing the project is crucial for a lasting relationship and for the development of the project. Customisation is a significant challenge, but the results show that Sequar has significantly automated processes at CRD Lamiere, reducing human error and improving efficiency. In addition, the evolution of Sequar's manufacturing KPIs indicates a more accurate assessment of business activities, highlighting the importance of tailoring metrics to specific business needs to optimise performance. In conclusion, the thesis highlights the value of a tailored approach to KPI development in ERP systems and shows how customising metrics can significantly improve operational efficiency and contribute to business growth. This study makes an important contribution to the field of ERP system implementation and enterprise performance management. The implications of the research are significant as the KPIs developed will be reviewed and implemented by Sequa and its customers, subject to in-depth analysis to ensure their reliability. This continuous process of evaluating and improving metrics provides an opportunity to increase operational efficiency and promote sustainable growth for companies using the Sequa ERP system. |
