Abstract
Computer networks have been used in everyday life for a long time, but recently, the majority of the IOT projects needs network appliances to support network integrated monitoring systems. In this thesis the focus is on monitoring systems that were applied to a network designed and managed by the iXem labs of Polytechnic of Turin. This network is made up of 2000 routers, almost half wired and half wireless, with different capabilities and from different brands. Before the current thesis, they were all managed by means of a proprietary monitoring system. The fundamental aim of the thesis is the improvement of the monitoring system to support further scales-up of the iXem network.
Initially, a cloud virtual experiment has been run in a smaller portion of the network, using Zabbix
