Tire NVH Characterization for Operational Rolling Phenomena.

Abstract:

The investigation of acoustic and mechanical oscillations in vehicles and their subjective perception by humans is known as Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH). This study branch is focused on the ride comfort, that is defined as the overall comfort and wellbeing of the occupants of the cabin during vehicle travel. The continuous development of Electric Vehicles (EV) is drastically changing the noise profile of the vehicle: with the elimination of the internal combustion engine, the main contribute is coming by interaction of tire and road surface. Modal analysis is the process used in NVH to dynamically describe a system determining its modal parameters: natural frequencies, damping factors and mode shapes.
