Abstract:

The main project aims at the creation of a complete parametric vehicle model in the early development phase of a new electric car. The tool needs some inputs that can be requirements given by manufacturer, performance targets, type of vehicle…but it also needs many other factors and models that cannot be defined by users but they are necessary to obtain the different structures. These necessary parameters are obtained in a pre-processing phase that is the core of the developed work. The pre-processing phase that has been developed, has the objective to completely automatize the process, reducing manual errors and maintaining an actualized structure. The creation of a database was mandatory. A code interface can then interact with data contained in the database and completely retrieve all needed values and models. The aim of the project is the creation and organization of the whole database, the use of management keys to properly connect data with solutions to reduce the propagation of errors. Moreover, the creation of the MATLAB interface for the complete automatization of the computation of models has been carried out with the use of statistical tools. The whole implementation is devoted also to user-friendliness, with the idea to avoid manual actions. In this way, the pre-processing can be performed also by not skilled users. The work gives a complete analysis of the database creation and implementation and the working principle of the code interface. Models and variables are used to compute dimensional chains in the main tool, to create the whole vehicle structure. The last part of the work is devoted to the development of the spring element for the dimensional chain of the rear axle. This ending part gives an overview of the application of the pre-processing phase and its importance in the whole computation.
