Abstract:

Cockpit-opening optimization of a CFRP monocoque. Applied study on an FSAE race-car: this paper is aimed at studying in detail the cockpit opening of a formula student single-seater racing-car, in order to improve chassis torsional stiffness, monocoque laminate robustness and reducing weight. This paper demonstrates how some structural features improve the chassis response, concerning both strength and stiffness.
