Abstract:

In the field of the structural analysis, classical beam and plate theories are usually used although those theories have serious limitations. In the field of the aerospace, specially for composite laminates, this theories can lead to an errors (for example in free edge analysis, torsion or in-plane deformations). The aim of this work is to present the Carrera Unified Formulation, a theory which overcome the limits of classical theories with a low computational cost (On contrast with the solid models that have a high computational costs). This formulation can be used to analyse a global model or to perform a local analysis in a complex region of a global model. In order to carry this last type of analysis a Python interface between the global model (designed with a commercial software) and the Mul2 code (software based on CUF designed by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace engineering of Polito) has been developed during this thesis.
