Evolution of the Euro NCAP partial overlap frontal test. A simulation study regarding the behaviour of four vehicles with different masses and chassis structures was performed for the actual ODB test and the future MPDB test. The aim of the study has been to gain an understanding of the behavioural variation of the structures in the two tests, the analysis of the critical aspects arising from both and the detection of possible design and development trends that will emerge from this change. Furthermore, a preliminary analysis on the deformation of the MPDB barrier has been performed in order to quantify the performance of each tested vehicle regarding compatibility and partner protection.
