Abstract: |
Nowadays traditional energy sources are being replaced in favor electrical energy, therefore energy storage systems such as batteries need to be optimized and monitored to offer high quality performance and grant safe operating conditions at all times. For this reason, among the many industries that are adapting, the automotive field is developing suitable solutions to optimally control the electrical energy sources that power vehicles, for which additional subsystems such as Battery Management Systems must be designed: this thesis aims in fact at developing a software for a custom BMS in a Matlab and Simulink environment, thus designing the most common control functions (SOC and SOH estimation, Cell Balancing, Thermal Management and Fault Detection) and validating them through testing. |
