Abstract: |
Dayco is a global leader in the research, design and production of transmission systems for engines and the provision of aftermarket services for automotive, construction, agriculture and industrial fields. Recently, in the automotive landscape, the pulley inlet span of the accessory belt has been particularly reduced due to the use of tensioning systems for BiSG. The span entry length has moved from a minimum value of around 75mm down to values close to 50mm. Entry span length is a fundamental parameter in defining the belt entry angle over a pulley. Higher this angle higher the risk of on noise and belt wear. For this reason, it is important to perform statistical checks on belt misalignment. The purpose of the study carried out in Dayco was to generate a mathematical model of the FEAD (front and auxiliary drive). The FEAD is the belt drive of the ancillary parts to the endothermic engine. The case studied includes the presence of the BiSG (Belt-integrated Starter Generator) for hybrid systems and the related tensioner. The alignment change of the drive has been evaluated by the diversity of the sub-components, to identify the value of the angle between the belt and the pulley plane (BEA belt entry angle). Thanks to the calculation software “Matlab”, it was possible to generate a working routine to be integrated into the calculation software of Dayco, which allowed to pass from a test bench calculation of the parameters involved by the operator, to a statistical estimation of them through the Montecarlo method. |
