Abstract:

The scope of the thesis is to improve the PhotoNext project, whose purpose is to process the displacement and temperature information coming from a set of Fibre Bragg Gratings (FBG) sensors of an airplane. The core of the project is the middleware created, that can be hosted in a Raspberry Pi 4 board. This improvement was done by creating a middleware independent from the type of interrogator used. This independence will make the middleware support all types and sizes of interrogators that will be used on different sized airplanes. The interrogator reads the displacement/temperature coming from FBG sensors, a connectivity is provided between the interrogator and the middleware. The interrogator will forward these data to the middleware via Ethernet. The middleware is standby listener for any data arrival from the interrogator. The middleware then will collect and analyze the received data. The middleware is integrated into a remote database server. So after data collecting and analyzing, the middleware will forward only meaningful and purposeful data to the remote database server. The remote database server can incorporate any kind of data, any structure, any format, any source – no matter how often it changes. Also it can analyze data of any structure directly within the database, giving us results in real time, and without expensive data warehouse loads. So the advantage of the chosen remote database server is that it will support us with a real-time and non-real time data analytics.
