This paper is a research about eight Italian classic squares from an architectural perspective. Based on the field research and the study of materials, this thesis analysis these squares from four specific aspects: the shape, the respond to terrain, the enclosing of facade and the performance of lightness. From the analysis, the author hope to extract some applicable architectural design method for urban public space at present.
