Abstract:

Energy Management Optimization of a PV system Connected to a Local Grid in an Office Building. The office Building to be studied is in Campus Sescelades, Tarragona. During the whole year is necessary to provide heating, cool and electricity. The Building is Connected to the local grid of heating/cooling and electricity. Is expected the new development of a PV System on the roof of the Building. The PV System will cover (totally or partially) the electric demand, assuming to cover also the needs of heating and cooling with heat pumps. The PV System will be provided with electricity storage too. The idea is to study the system with TRNSYS and optimize it both terms of heating/cooling and electricity. The heating and cooling provided with heat pump will increase the demand of electricity. The objective of the optimization will be to try to adapt the demand to the electricity to the energy production of PV systems. In addiction should be performed also the management of the demand: so, this means to investigate the demands, try to understand to what are dependent and attempt for reducing the peaks in the demands (shaving) and moving the demands in other parts of day in which solar energy should be provided. The need of heating, cooling, electricity is provided from the work of an other student and in the same way are also given all the geometric and construction data of the building. An economic analysis of the project in term of payback time could be performed. Finally, having all the data of the building, a preliminary analysis in terms of energy savings should be started in order to evaluate if simple and cheap improves could be done. The objective of this work is the management of the PV System and the final design of it, so the optimal final area of PV panels that has to be built and the economic evaluation of the project.
