Abstract:

A coupled neutronic/thermal-hydraulic simulation of the core of a lead-cooled fast reactor is set up, with the use of two separate codes - a Monte Carlo code for the neutronics and a finite volume CFD code for the thermal-hydraulics. The results of the simulation are then compared with the ones obtained with FRENETIC, a multiphysics tool developed by Politecnico di Torino.
