Abstract
Aeronautical industry’s needs to have light and high performance structures has given a strong impetus to the development of technologies able to reduce the overall weight of the machine in order to increase its efficiency and to reduce cost. The research activity carried out in this thesis is aimed at the study and optimization of some locking systems for the use of optical fibers as sensors and for the validation of the sensors themselves. They have many distinctiveness that make them ideal candidates for aeronautical applications, among which first the weight and the reduced dimensions that allow a comfortable installation without invasiveness.
Added to these qualities is the ability to multiplexing multiple sensors on the same fiber, to use the same fiber for data transmission and immunity to electromagnetic interference
