The objective of this thesis is offering original inspection methods able to adapt the concepts of conventional testing to P4-enabled devices and their capabilities. The work is focused on two main cases: the functional testing for the porting of an existing OS on a new programmable chip; the emulation of an entire network of devices offering data-plane programmability, with the aim of defining their capacities in the execution of distributed algorithms.
