Abstract
A mathematical model is proposed for the aeroelastic simulation of a wind turbine blade, using Large Eddy Simulation and an Eulero-Bernoulli 1D finite element formulation. The LES model is validated using a popular high Reynolds benchmark. An innovative numerical scheme for Navier-Stokes equations on Octree grids is then presented and its criticalities are deeply analyzed. Afterwards, a wind turbine blade is modelled using a rotating frame of reference and a preliminary simulation is performed.
