Abstract
FOREWORD
This volume is the second part of an overall work, composed of five volumes, which collect all the work developed within the Joint Study 2015, an international workshop which takes place every year between Turin Polytechnic and the Tsinghua University of Beijing. Reference is made to the first volume for knowing the training, the study and research and project development of the common masterplans with the students and professors of Tsinghua University. The first volume was developed together by the eight participants of Polytechnic of Turin to the workshop.
This volume contains insights arising as a result of the experience developed in the first book. This book consists of four chapters, the first two sections with theoretical issues and other two relate to project developments of the common masterplan developed in Beijing. For theoretical arguments, we face the theme of "regionalism" as a design method analyzed in relation to contemporary society. We have tried to interpret the Chinese case, full of interesting and contradictory topics, through the interpretations already theorized in the West in the second half of the '900. The project developments, in two seconds chapters, covers the design of the entrance to the new village of Taizicheng, in northern China, where one of the "in altitude" Olympic villages will be built of the upcoming Winter Olympic Games "Beijing 2022".
