Abstract
The integration of computing capabilities directly onboard satellites (the "Space Cloud" paradigm) represents a fundamental evolution for future 6G networks, enabling in-orbit data processing and a drastic reduction in end-to-end latency. This thesis addresses this paradigm by first conducting a comprehensive study of the state of the art, analyzing the enabling technologies, distributed frameworks, and orchestration architectures that define the current Space Cloud ecosystem. Second, it translates these theoretical foundations into a simulated case study aimed at resolving a specific gap identified in the literature. Indeed, current satellite resource orchestration systems present two structural limitations: they operate without distinguishing task priority, treating routine data and critical emergencies equally, and they ignore real physical constraints, such as the sunlight-eclipse alternation and the actual battery state of charge.
To overcome these limitations, an intelligent controller based on Reinforcement Learning (PPO algorithm) has been developed to dynamically manage the activation state of onboard servers
