Spatiotemporal Patterns in Shared Micromobility Modes: A case study in the city of Braga, Portugal.
Rel. Cristina Pronello. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Digital Skills For Sustainable Societal Transitions, 2026
Abstract
This dissertation examines the role of shared e-scooters within the urban mobility system of Braga, Portugal, with particular attention to their spatiotemporal demand patterns, their relationship with land use and public transport, and their potential to reveal gaps in the existing transport network. The study responds to a broader research gap in micromobility planning, namely the limited evidence on whether shared e-scooters function mainly as a complementary mode, a substitute for other modes, or an independent travel option within medium-sized European cities. The research develops a unified analytical framework that integrates shared e-scooter trip records, GTFS public transport data, census information, and GIS-based contextual layers (e.g.
points of interest), and network infrastructure
