Abstract
This thesis presents the design and validation of a new oil‑free piston compressor in the LFx series, developed for clean‑air applications requiring low noise and compact architecture. The work covers the complete engineering process, including preliminary sizing, detailed CAD modeling, structural analysis of critical components, and the design of the valve system and hood assembly. Analytical and numerical methods were used to evaluate stresses, fatigue behavior, bearing loads, and the sealing performance of the bolted head–valve–cylinder joint. A CFD study of the hood provided insight into airflow distribution, cooling effectiveness, and the impact of geometric features such as the separation wall.
Prototype testing confirmed the robustness of the overall mechanical design, while identifying thermal issues linked to the initial valve configuration
