Improvement of tyre simulation & analysis tools to extract Key Performance Indicators for tyre optimisation on track.
Rel. Andrea Tonoli. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Automotive Engineering (Ingegneria Dell'Autoveicolo), 2026
Abstract
In motorsport, accurate vehicle performance prediction through simulation is essential to reduce track testing requirements and accelerate performance development. As the only component in contact with the track surface, the tyre plays a fundamental role in vehicle dynamics by generating the forces that govern the car’s behaviour. Consequently, understanding and optimising tyre performance is key to maximising overall vehicle performance. This thesis was developed within the Tyre & Strategy Department of Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula One Team and focuses on enhancing tyre performance simulation through the correlation of track and simulation data, as well as the development of improved analysis tools for the extraction of tyre-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
The objective is to improve tyre performance forecasting and support pre-event optimisation activities
